Power Flow Analysis using Sequential Solution Technique and Modified PQ Model in Newton-Raphson Technique

Power system analysts and operators use planning and analysis tools to perform steady-state analyses like the Newton Raphson technique for an HVAC system. With the rapid integration of Renewable sources of energy like wind, there is a need to modify the traditional load flow algorithm for better analysis. The paper presents a sequential solution technique and a Modified form of the PQ model for a power flow analysis of an HVAC system incorporating HVDC link and wind farms, respectively. The paper further presents a novel power flow algorithm for an HVAC system incorporating both HVDC link and wind farms and compares various combinations of systems in terms of voltage drops and reactive power compensation.
