Design and Development of Smart Home Desktop Assistant

In recent years, one of the main components of industry 4.0 is Internet of Things has witnessed rapid growth in almost every field, from agriculture, manufacturing, medical, education, smart cities IOT has made all things more interconnected, easy to access and brought all things under our fingers. One of the most widely use cases of IOT is home automation. Home automation now a days is very popular as we can control devices remotely, enhances security, save energy, etc. In this paper we have proposed one step up of home automation version using desktop assistant “Jarvis” and some additional features like medical chatbot. Jarvis is a fully GUI based desktop assistant which can access different websites over the internet, it can also interact with the microcontrollers to control different devices. Using desktop assistant Jarvis, we can control the home devices remotely through our voice, and applications like reading news, accessing emails, accessing google, opening any folder or file in desktop, interacting with cloud, opening different websites, sending messages, taking screenshots, creating notes, responding like humans in real time via speakers, accessing camera of the laptop, online shopping, etc. are possible using our prototype.
