Interdigitated Wearable Antenna For Brain-Stroke Detection

An increasing incidence of brain-strokes and need for timely detection have necessitated the development of innovative technologies. This paper sets the stage for a new era of stroke care, where wearable antennas become indispensable tools for healthcare professionals and individuals alike. The wearable antennas hold great potential in enabling the detection and timely intervention for brain-stroke patients thus, reducing mortality rates. These antennas offer advantages such as portability, comfort, miniaturized structures and continuous monitoring which are critical for effective stroke detection. An interdigitated antenna system is designed specifically for detection of brainstroke. For purpose of detecting brain-stroke, the suggested antenna is constructed on a Roger RT/Duroid 5880 semi-flex substrate. The antenna has a substrate thickness of 1.5 mm, dimensions of 25×20 mm

, loss tangent of 0.002, along with relative permittivity of 3.03. The simulated antenna has a 1.11 GHz bandwidth ranging from 2.26 GHz to 3.37 GHz. Additionally, S21 of developed antenna system is assessed and used to detect brainstroke. The proposed design's calculated specific absorption rate (SAR) is 0.0835 W/Kg (for 10g tissue), which ensures compliance with safety standards. The antenna's small size and flexibility make it perfect for wearable applications, enabling covert and comfortable monitoring of brain activity.
