Analysis and Implementation of Power Optimizer Using sliding Mode Control enabled String Inverter for Domestic applications

Due to the easy accessibility of highly efficient PV panels that minimize negative environmental effects, solar photovoltaic (PV) power systems are presently used as a significant alternative power source. The household PV power plants in use are often linked together in strings or arrays before being in a grid-connected state or a load using an inverter. The research is done with the PV plant, which comprises six panels, each having a 250 Wp rating, linked in series to produce 1.5 kWp of rated power and then connected to the load through an inverter. A multiple PWM approach is employed in this system to regulate an inverter's switches. The system's main flaw is that it suffers a production loss of roughly 60% if any external elements, such a chimney or a tree, cast any shade onto one or more panels. In the proposed system, a cascaded boost converter with sliding mode control is designed to match the PV panel's source and load characteristics even while it is being shadowed by outside influences. The MATLAB/SIMULINK environment is used to model the proposed system. The system is linked to the load after the system's output from the cascaded boost converter roughly 30 V DC which is connected in series with the other five panels to create a string of 180 V DC. Using an LM318 comparator, a boost converter with sliding mode control is realized. The converter's output ranges from 28 to 30 volts. As a result, the entire system power is increased by around 30%.
