A Novel Wide-Band Rectangular Antenna with Different Slots for 0.1 THz-0.3THz Wave Applications

The 6G wireless systems will utilize the Terahertz (THz) frequency electromagnetic energy band (0.1-10 THz) to meet the growing need for faster data rates and ultra-high-speed communication in various future applications with highly developed communication infrastructure. In this contribution, the design of a novel antenna operating in the wideband (WB) frequency range of 0.1 THz to 0.3 THz with high gain of 6.33dBi at 328.75GHz center frequency and bandwidth of 440GHz spanning from 60-500GHz is reported which radiated em wave effeciently. Performance enhancement techniques through the incorporation of slots in patch and ground are done. The WB antenna consists of a rectangular patch of dimensions 3.5mm ×2.5mm × 0.035mm with 2 slots of dimensions 0.3mm × 0.75mm and 1 big slot of dimensions 0.5 × 2.3mm and a feed line with a 1.8mm × 0.35mm rectangular slot that connects the patch to the port. There are 4 slots in the ground as well. The antenna is implemented on a substrate of Rogers RT/Duroid 5880 with dimensions of 6.2mm × 7.4mm × 0.254 mm. The design offers applications in the fields of terahertz imaging, high-speed wireless data transfer, spectroscopy, and diverse industrial applications.
