A Review on Solar-Based High Gain DC/DC Converters for Microgrid Applications

This paper briefly views DC/DC converters for high voltage gain conversion ratio. The converter operation is analyzed during continuous conduction mode (CCM) and discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). The converters' design procedure and theoretical analysis are explained with mathematical expressions. A high gain is obtained with less voltage stress across switches. The optimum switched inductor and switched capacitor design are adjourned as the cause for this phenomenon. Similarly, other converters have advantages such as low component count, effective step response and reduced losses across diodes. The step response is a prominent characteristic of designed DC/DC converters for microgrid applications. This is achieved by CCM and DCM modes of operation with proper converter control strategy.
