Towards web-applications for domain-specific languages and development tools

The modern trend towards web-based technologies in different domains calls for innovative tooling frameworks that are both adaptive and robust. This paper introduces a novel architecture for web-based development tools, employing a thin-client approach and scalable micro-service architecture, which holds significance in the era of web technologies. Central to this framework is a reactive document analysis algorithm, which is based on the declarative description of formal domain concepts and analysis rules. Several domain-specific languages have been drafted for domains such as industrial automation systems, based on IEC 61499, and biological knowledge structuring, to evaluate the proposed architecture. The results indicate the viability of integrating such an approach in future web-based development environments, thereby enhancing the ease and efficiency of conducting code analysis and editing tasks. Moreover, the architecture lays a foundation for the evolution of development tools aligned with modern web technologies.
