Acoustic Vibration Measurement System based on a Microphone Array

In addition to the essential role that sound signals play in the interaction between the human beings, they are the basis of many other applications in our daily lives such as communications, medical applications, monitoring and security systems, voice assistants or entertainment [1]. Therefore, their acquisition and processing have been a field of high interest in recent years. Considering this aspect, the goal of this paper is to propose a system that allows both the acquisition and analysis of sound signals, through an easy-to-use graphical interface, as well as their programmable amplification, depending on the applications of interest. The proposed system is based on an array consisting of 12 high-performance analog micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) microphones and the ShieldBuddy TC275 development board, which offers advantages both in terms of the sensitivity of the system and the capacity to acquire and process the captured sound signals.
