A Bifacial PV/Battery Three Port Hybrid System for Stand-alone Applications

Bifacial PV technology has brought about a significant transformation in the renewable energy sector, propelling photovoltaic systems to new heights. These systems are meticulously designed to boost performance and optimize power generation. In stark contrast to traditional PV modules, bifacial modules exhibit a distinctive capability to yield higher power outputs. However, the power output of PV systems is influenced by daily fluctuations in temperature and irradiance levels. Consequently, it is of paramount importance to maximize the efficiency of PV modules and extract the utmost available power. In the context of standalone bifacial PV applications, the existing literature lacks a proper technique for harnessing the maximum power potential. This paper addresses this gap by introducing a modified algorithm designed to estimate the maximum power output from bifacial PV systems. The same algorithm is then put to the test in a proposed bifacial PV/Battery triport hybrid system. Here, the battery serves as an energy storage component, enabling the regulation of the DC link voltage at a consistent level.
