An Improved Direct Power Regulation Scheme for Reliable PMSG P0wer Control Under Grid Imbalance

This work presents the application of Direct Power Control (DPC) in wind generators to reduce the pulsations in grid-side elements like grid currents, DC-link voltage, active and reactive power. The DPC technique offers fast and accurate power control of PMSG, enhancing their overall performance and grid integration capabilities. However, accurate estimation of wind speed is vital for optimal DPC operation. To address this, the proposed method utilizes a Rotor Flux-Based Stator-PLL scheme to estimate wind speed, leveraging the rotor flux information for improved accuracy. The developed wind speed estimation algorithm demonstrates robustness against uncertainties, such as rotor resistance variations and grid disturbances. By utilizing the Rotor Flux-Based Stator-PLL, the proposed approach achieves enhanced estimation accuracy, contributing to the overall effectiveness of DPC in wind power generation systems. Verified the impact of grid distortion in a 2MW PMSG, using PSCAD/EMTDC and RTS OPAL-RT.
