A High Gain Modified Quadratic Boost Converter using Switched Capacitor and Inductor Network

This work represents a quadratic boost converter employing a voltage lifting technique comprising of switched capacitor and improved switched inductor network (SC-ISI-QBC) to obtain high voltage gain. Apart from high gain, the proposed converter possesses additional benefits of reduced ripple continuous input current (CIC) and utilization of common grounding configuration. Moreover, the existence of a switched capacitor at the forefront of proposed converter contributes to achieve reduced voltage stress across the active switch. The operating principle and steady-state analysis of the proposed SC-ISI-QBC under continuous conduction mode (CCM) are delineated. The equivalent circuit design and components selection are also discussed in detail. Along with this a comprehensive comparative assessment is undertaken between the proposed SC-ISI-QBC and conventional quadratic boost converter (CQBC), along with other high gain related QBCs as reported. Furthermore, a controller is implemented for closed loop analysis of the proposed converter for dynamic behavior. Finally, to validated theoretical analysis a simulation is carried out in MATLAB simulation software with a rated power of 200W.
