Hardware Implementation of H5 and Novel H6 Transformer-Less Inverter Topologies for Grid Connected Photovoltaic System to Eliminate Leakage Current using OPAL-RT

A Novel H6 transformer-less inverter for grid connected PV system is introduced in this paper, which is an alteration of basic H5 inverter with an extra switch. This inverter is successful in suppressing the common mode current extensively by maintaining the common mode voltage constant throughout the conduction and freewheeling modes. It also minimizes the conduction losses considerably as compared to conventional H5 inverter. The two inverters namely H5 and Novel H6 inverter are modelled in MATLAB/SIMULINK platform to carry out the comparative study and the results are further validated using OPALRT, a real time simulator, to prove the exactness and viability of the proposed circuit.
