Multi-index Evaluation of Distributed EMS with Coordinated Control for Electric and Thermal Loads

In recent years, distributed coordinated energy management system (EMS) control has attracted attention as a control method for distributed energy resources, which are expected to become a new regulating power source for the flexibility of power systems. In this study, we extend the conventional EMS based on centralized control to distributed EMS based on a coordinated control scheme. Moreover, it deals with both electricity and heat loads of the energy consumer. The performance of the proposed method was compared with that of self-control and centralized control using multi-objective indicators. The multi-objective evaluation indicators include consumer energy cost, CO2 emissions, primary energy, photovoltaic utilization rate, and rate of renewable electrical energy consumed. Based on the results, the control performance of the distributed coordinated EMS control is comparable to that of centralized control. The simultaneous optimization of electricity and heat is superior to the optimization of only electricity, and the appropriate scale of group for energy sharing is clarified.
