System for Electronic Control Unit Sniffing

In this study is proposed an electronic module that connects to a vehicle's CAN Bus communication bus via the vehicle's OBD II diagnostic port. It scans the ECU (Electronic control unit) and retrieves On-board diagnostics Parameter IDs “PID” supported by the vehicle. These parameters are then stored via the SD card module in a memory card so that they can be used for vehicle diagnostics and testing of the functions supported by the ECU. The information that is being retrieved includes the speed of the communication bus, the ID or name of the ECU number of captured PIDs, their identical numbers, their class, the parameters they represent and their values.
