Legal Events Classification in Online Social Community Posts

Numerous online community forums dynamically provide abundant information users share through posts and reviews. Automatic legal event classification could assist users in appropriately managing their issues. The effectiveness of this practice depends on the accurate prediction of the appropriate crime type for users' issues. Although a few previous studies have applied information technology to official legal documents, a limited number of studies have classified or predicted a legal issue using user-generated content documents. This study employed deep learning approaches to automatically classify legal events in online community posts. To assess the performance of the employed method, we collected discussion posts from an online community forum. The experimental results indicated that the utilized approach categorized legal events more accurately and effectively than the other two methods.
