The Man-Land Coupling Algorithm: A Priori Experiment with Remote Sensing Data to Facilitate the Revitalization of Great Sites Based on Complex Cognition

The man-land system in the air-space data foundation represents a dynamic structure formed by the interconnections and interactions between man and land in a given geographic area. In view of the complexity in the dynamic functioning of the man-land system, there is an urgent need to build a stronger indicator system to characterize the processes of mutual influence and feedback between the geo-system and the human system. Exploratory restoration of historical sites can be conceptualized as the ability of the geospatial entity as a whole to absorb, recover or transform natural and social disturbances with the goal of ensuring the structural stability of the man -land system. The man-land coupling algorithm proposed in this paper is a new pathway to establish a complex structural model for man-land system research, targeting the new coupling of the theoretical model of social science and the quantifiable indicator system of spatial science. This paper analyses the problem from three dimensions: understanding of historical events and spatial restoration of traceable geo-ecosystems from the natural dimension, environmental changes and the community's spatial supply capacity for production from the society dimension, and the spatial ecological comprehensive index system from the comprehensive description approach. Then the parameters are set in three orientations: regional urban social structure, material and construction supply function, and special area characterization threshold. At the same time, in combination with the acquired air and space collection data from the in-situ investigation, three objectives are proposed: to perceive the spatial state of the historical site that guarantees the sustainable restoration of the system, to clarify the spatial thresholds of the dynamic process of the man -land system, and to satisfy the ecological restoration and protection and the exploration of civilization values. This complex model can be used as an important guide for future research on the multi-temporal restoration of historical sites and the dynamics of in-situ human settlements development.
