Dynamic Modeling and Identification of Brushless Aircraft Generating System

The increasing use of electrical power in more electric aircraft yields new challenges in terms of modeling and analysis. The control and analysis of these systems require adequate modeling in time and frequency domains. In this paper, a dynamic average model for an aircraft generating system based on brushless synchronous generator (BLSG) is derived. The rectifier, connected to the main exciters, is modeled in all rectification modes based on the mathematical average modeling approach. Also, since it is typically not possible to directly measure the field current and its voltage in brushless generators, the unknown input extended kalman filter approach is suggested for estimation of generator’s field current. The proposed model is finally validated through computer studies.
