Impact of Terrain and Landcover Types on Typical Lightning Disaster Prone Areas

This article analyzes the terrain and landcover characteristics of lightning prone areas in the area where transmission line is located in Xining. Firstly, extract altitude, slope, slope aspect, terrain type, and landcover type. Then analyze the impact of terrain factos and landcover types on ground flash density. Based on this, the Apriori algorithm is used to analyze the terrain and landcover areas where lightning disasters are prone to occur: wasteland located on leeward slopes; The slope is 10.9°~21.4°, facing east and located on a leeward slope; A grassland with a slope of 21.4°~67.1°, facing southeast, located on a leeward slope; Cultivated land with an altitude of 2.7~4.2km. Based on the research, transmission lines can be selected in terrain and landcover areas that are less prone to lightning damage, thus providing a reference basis for lightning protection of transmission lines.
