Performance Analysis of a Grid Integrated Bifacial Solar Energy System for Dhaka-Mawa Expressway

This paper presents a grid-integrated technical, economic and environmental evaluation of a Bifacial solar system installed along the Dhaka-Mawa Express Highway in Bangladesh. The research intends to study the viability of the Bifacial solar PV system, including issues such as system design, site selection, installation, operation, and maintenance expenses employing the PVsyst simulation software. The study also evaluates the potential energy generation and financial returns of the system. A simulation model is used for the techno-economic assessment of the Bifacial solar PV system. The simulation results indicate that a Bifacial solar PV system installed along the Dhaka Mawa Express Highway has the potential to generate a total of 59.87 GWh/year of electricity. Furthermore, the average monthly output of 4.24 GWh shows how consistently the suggested system produces electricity throughout the year. It is estimated that installing a Bifacial solar PV system will cost a total of USD 25712524 and the Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) is USD 0.072. savings of 870510 tonnes over a 25 year period. This is a significant amount of energy that can contribute to reducing the reliance on fossil fuels in the region.
