A Comprehensive Design and Performance Evaluation of Energy Generator Mechanical Rumble Strips

This paper presents a comprehensive design and demonstration of mechanical rumble strips aimed at generating energy from vehicles using their potential energy. The study addresses project sustainability and post-implementation facets. Mitigation strategies for these impacts are outlined, culminating in the refinement of technical specifications. The research evaluates solution and selects the "Rack Pinion Mechanism" as the best suitable choice. Creating detailed design, supported by 3D structural representations realized through "SOLIDWORKS." Employing "MATLAB" for necessary analysis and calculation. Also, design a complete electrical system to ensure operational safety. When a vehicle passes over the mechanical rumble strips it will press down and the kinetic energy will be converted into electrical energy with some mechanical and electrical equipment. To store the energy from the device, a battery pack will be connected through a charge controller and a DC-AC power inverter will be used. Every time a vehicle passes over the device, it produces energy and charges the battery. A prototype was created based on the design to conduct a comprehensive study and evaluation. A thorough performance evaluation was carried out which identified the design's limitations and areas that could be improved. Various loads were tested against the generator attached to the device to observe the load voltages and measure the total energy extracted from the system. The results were then compared against the estimations made earlier.
