Abstract:

The novelty of this work is to photodegrade the Textile wastewater using ZnO nanostructured films. The ZnO nanostructured films (Top layer) have been synthesized on the ZnO seed layer by a simple uncovered hydrothermal method at 85°C for 2 hr, whereas the ZnO seed layer is grown on a glass substrate by spin coating method for 3000 rpm and 15s. The structural properties of both the Top and seed layers of ZnO films showed a wurtzite structure with good crystallinity. The prepared ZnO films have a good absorption edge and bandgap energy within the range of 3.1~3.37 eV. The scanning electron microscope images exhibited nanorods (NRs)-like shapes, which have enhanced surface area and are more photoactive. Moreover, the photodegrading performance of the ZnO NRs films (Top layer) is more efficient than the spin-coated seed layer sample.
