Simulation of the Growth of Dendritic Interfacial Electrodes of IPMC Based on Phase Field Theory

Ionic polymer metal composites (IPMC) with dendritic interfacial electrodes (DIEs) has drawn attention in recent years due to its excellent actuation performance. Although considerable efforts have been made to study the aggregation models of metal particles for the electrode formation of IPMC, few reports are presented to simulate the growth of DIEs inside IPMC. In this paper, we conduct a simulation of the growth of DIEs of IPMC based on phase field theory by referring its preparation parameters and morphology characteristics. The effects of certain parameters during preparation process are discussed. This paper aims to contribute to the understanding of the mechanism of the growth of DIEs and provide a reference for subsequent study of related preparation processes of the DIEs of IPMC.
