A Circular Compact Patch Antenna for Wi-Gig (60 GHz) Application Using Aperture Coupled Feeding Technique

For maximum data communication with low latencies, data transmission in gigabits must advance this objective by designing such antenna. In this article, we have designed circular structure patch antenna using an Aperture Coupled Feeding (ACF) technique for Wi-Gig application operable at 60 GHz. Two substrates with dielectric constant of 2.2 and height of 0.8 mm is used. One of them a substrate treated as feeder and ground and another one as conducting element. This antenna observes maximum reflection coefficient
$(\mathbf{S}_{\mathbf{11}})$
at 60 GHz is -42 dB and peak gain of 7.5 dBi. Radiation efficiency observed as 21.66 % with bandwidth of 11 GHz. Antenna is designed with miniaturization feature by creating size of
$10\times 10\times 1.6\ \text{mm}^{3}$
(0.8mm of each substrate). This antenna is applicable for wireless communication and fulfilling the requirement based on the current objectives. Wi-Gig fulfils the data enhancement, speed and QoS in WLAN area with data rate of gigabits per second (GBPS).
