Design and Analysis of a Triple Band Microstrip Patch Antenna for Wireless Applications

This research presents a comprehensive design and it’s analysis of a triple-band microstrip patch antenna with high return loss. The antenna contains a rectangular slot and four circular slots on the ground, with a T-shaped slot on the patch and demonstrates operation of triple-band, with frequencies at 2.6 GHz, 5.4 GHz, and 7.1 GHz. Design and analysis of this antenna is performed on CST STUDIO SUITE simulation software. The antenna feedline follows Line feeding technique. The antenna shows optimum performance for the Wi-MAX, WLAN, and satellite communications applications respectively. Remarkable return losses of -40.508 dB, -40.439 dB, and 33.987 dB at 2.6 GHz, 5.4 GHz, and 7.1 GHz, respectively have been observed from the antenna performance. Corresponding bandwidths of 105.2 MHz (2.6967 GHz - 2.5915GHz) at 2.6 GHz, 208.7 MHz (5.5741 GHz - 5.3654 GHz) at 5.4 GHz, and 270 MHz (7.2919 GHz – 7.0219 GHz) at 7.1 GHz proves compatibility for specific application domains. An extensive parametric analysis is performed to optimize the antenna design. The proposed triple-band microstrip patch antenna has been compared with some existing patch antennas where it has demonstrated better return loss performance. The superior design and performance makes the antenna compatible across multiple frequency bands, advancing wireless communication technology.
