Performance Analysis of Robust Acoustic Rectangular Array Beamformer

The acoustic beam former is a signal processing technique used to focus on a specific sound source or direction of interest while reducing the impact of background noise and reverberations. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the performance of a robust acoustic rectangular array beam former when confronted with unwanted signals. Robust beamforming techniques are used with rectangular microphone array to mitigate the noise and eliminate interfering signals. This paper focuses on enhancing system performance through the implementation of robust beamforming technique. This technique introduces adaptability to address potential arrival path mismatches. The numerical simulation results demonstrate that the robust approach significantly enhances the performance of rectangular arrays, leading to better signal-to-noise ratio (SINR) of the beam former. Moreover, the results indicate that the new variable loading (NVL) outperforms variable diagonal loading (VDL), optimum diagonal loading (ODL), and fixed diagonal loading (FDL) techniques. The performance analysis involves extensive computer simulations using MATLAB software.
