Empowering Library Attendance System with IoT-Enabled Student ID Cards

In an era driven by digital transformation, the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology into educational institutions has become paramount for optimizing operations and enhancing user experiences. By enhancing traditional barcode identifiers with IoT capabilities, we create a system that not only streamlines attendance tracking but also provides real-time data, valuable user insights, and enhanced security measures. This study proposes an IoT-based library attendance system that utilizes barcode technology on student ID cards. The system aims to improve attendance tracking, optimize resource allocation, and enhance user experiences in college libraries. The hardware components of the system consist of Raspberry Pi 3 and barcode scanners, while the software system includes front-end and back-end applications. The research results demonstrate a prototype of the assembled hardware and the user interface of the software system. The proposed system offers advantages such as efficiency, real-time data, enhanced security, and improved user experiences. The IoT-based library attendance system has been successfully developed and can be used by users to record their visits to the library. The system includes features to manage program data, update user information, and generate visit reports. The system is designed to be efficient and effective for librarians in managing visits and allocating their time for other tasks.
