Operation Cost Minimization Planning in South Eastern PGCB Grid with Increasing Solar PV Energy

Cost-effective electric power system operation is pivotal for cheaper energy delivery. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the technoeconomic impact of renewable energy penetration in the south-eastern PGCB network. An optimal power flow model is implemented in a four-bus test power system grid. A Lambda-iteration method is utilized to assess the optimum power flow model for the southern zone of the PGCB (Power Grid Company of Bangladesh) system. The bus one of the test systems is considered for renewable energy injection. Conventional power plants supply the load with five different kinds of fuel sources. These plants are connected by five transmission lines. Several credible case studies have been simulated to investigate the operation cost and selling price over time being. The optimal power delivery, operation cost, and selling price were recorded without and with solar energy. A significant amount of operation cost was reduced in 2041, which is accounted to be 17.74% even though considering a 60% increase in load.
