Spectrum Analyzer Using Software Defined Radio: A Case Study in Cambodia

Software-defined radio (SDR) is a crucial and contemporary technique in modern wireless communication. SDR is a type of radio that can tune to any frequency band supported by the hardware. It can implement various modulation and demodulation schemes, as well as different signal types and standards, all within the same device. Reconfigurable hardware and robust software make this possible. This paper offers an in-depth analysis of radio receivers based on SDR systems. SDR systems can implement primary devices such as a radio receiver, a radio transmitter, and a transceiver. The paper provides functions for both the transmitter and receiver. It also discusses the implementation of SDR devices using MATLAB, Simulink, and single-board computers. The emergence of low-cost SDR hardware with substantial functional capability has led to a reduction in the overall cost of SDR systems. Additionally, the paper compares different types of radio systems developed using SDR, along with an analysis of their performance. The program serves as a spectrum analyzer, enabling the visualization of the radio frequency spectrum for Frequency Modulated (FM) radio bands ranging from 88 to 108 MHz in Cambodia.
