Enhancing VLC System's Performance Using Optimized Hemispherical Angle Diversity Receiver

An optimized Angle Diversity Receiver is considered one of the most promising solutions for the Reduction of SINR fluctuations in an indoor multi-cell VLC system. Visible light communication, or VLC, is becoming more and more of a competitive technology for wireless communication in both indoor and outdoor environments. Regarded as a promising technology for data communication, visible light communication (VLC) offers various benefits over conventional wireless communication techniques like Wi-Fi, This paper aims to show the best-suited implemented method for the VLC systems to reduce SINR fluctuations and evaluate how a generalized OHADR (Optimized Hemispherical Angle Diversity Receiver) is used to reduce the SINR fluctuations in an indoor multi-cell VLC system. Here, on the generalized HADR the photodiodes which act as the receiver which is used to receive the transmitted data from the source (LEDs) are placed such that one photodiode detector is placed on the top and the other multiple detectors are placed inclined to the HADR. So considering the random rotation angle the optimization of the inclination angle is done to get the minimum SINR fluctuations over the receiver plane. Using three different diversity combining techniques in the receiver plane SINR fluctuations are calculated and analyzed. Through analysis, the results show that when using more number of photodetectors in the OHADR the SINR fluctuations are gradually reduced, and much better results of reduction of SINR fluctuations are attained by using the SBC technique. However, almost the same SINR fluctuations are obtained using SBC and MRC in the indoor multi-cell VLC system.
