Stacked Ring-Slit Dual-Band Broadband Circularly Polarized Antenna for Satellite Navigation

This paper presents a dual-band broadband circularly polarized antenna applied to Chinese Compass Navigation Satellite System (COMPASS). It is based on the study of circularly polarized ring antenna and combined with the eigenmode theory analysis, the frequency band is broadened and complex feed networkby is simplified by using a stacked and the circular polarization characteristics can be achieved in both frequency bands. The measured impedance bandwidth of this antenna is 1.195-1.235GHz and 1.495-1.665GHz, and the maximum in-band gain is 6.6dB, which can be applied to two civil signals B1c and B2b in COMPASS.
