High Range Resolution Terahertz FMCW Radar Imaging

Terahertz frequency modulation continuous wave (THz FMCW) radars have been widely used for nondestructive testing of nonmetallic materials. However, due to the limitation of RF devices as well as the cost, it is difficult to obtain a large bandwidth, which can't meet the high resolution requirements of the radar. In this paper, a 150–220 GHz FMCW radar is developed. Moreover, the MUSIC algorithm is used to increase the radar range resolution from 4.29 mm to 2.5 mm. The effectiveness and advantages of the system and algorithm are verified by the final experiments.
