Current Distribution and Critical Current Characteristics of a Novel HTS Cable Woven by Transpositional REBCO Tapes

This paper presents a new method to improve both the critical current and the uniformity of current distribution in a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) cable. The proposed method involves weaving the cable using transpositional REBCO tapes. To establish a three-dimensional (3D) finite element model (FEM) in the proposed approach, the H formula is used. curve is obtained through experimentation. The results indicate that the novel HTS cable has several favorable characteristics compared to the cable simply stacked by REBCO tapes, including a larger critical current and a more uniform current distribution.
