Solar Powered Water Pump Using Switched Reluctance Motor

The development of a switched reluctance motor water pump utilizing solar electricity and MATLAB simulation are shown in this article. The system aims to provide an efficient and sustainable solution for water pumping in remote areas. The solar panel capture the sunlight and convert it in to direct current (DC) electricity. The boost converter is used to boosting the voltage of solar panels to a high voltage level, which allows switching reluctance motors to be operated efficiently. A controller manages the power flow ensuring optimal performance of the motor and the overall system. To optimize the system performance and maximize the solar energy utilization, Algorithm for perturbing and observing (P&O) using Continuous maximum power point tracking (MPPT) monitors the solar panel output voltage and current, ensuring optimal energy extraction from the solar panel. The system coordinating the power flow between the solar panel, boost converter, and the SRM. Additionally, it regulates the switching of currents in the SRM windings based on feedback from the MPPT P&O algorithm, this control strategy ensures that the SRM operates at its most efficient points, enhancing the overall systems performance and extending the equipment’s lifespan.
