12/8 Switched Reluctance Machine Modeling and Analysis Based on Finte Elements Method in the Presence of the no-Linearity effects

The primary objective of this research paper is to investigate and analyze the nonlinear phenomena observed in a 12/8 switched reluctance machine (SRM). The machine demonstrates significant nonlinear behavior in its magnetic circuits as well as geometric properties, particularly in the air gap, which undergoes variations depending on the rotation mode. To tackle this non-linear challenge, the finite element method is utilized as an effective approach for modeling and resolving the issue at hand. The paper investigates two cases regarding the magnetic characteristics of the SRM. The first case involves considering numerous linear states of permeability derived from the non-linear curve B = f (H), while the second case encompasses analyzing the complete non-linear curve B = f (H). The static characteristics of the SRM are modeled using a two-dimensional finite element approach, taking into account different rotor positions corresponding to changes in electric current (excitation). Based on the comparative study results, the analysis of the two cases reveals the significance of recognizing nonlinear effects in the switched reluctance machine (SRM). The obtained results highlight the importance of accounting for nonlinearity in SRM modeling. The evaluation of these features is conducted through the finite element modeling process in two scenarios. The first case focuses on considering the nonlinearity of the geometry, specifically the variance in the air gap. The second case takes into account the nonlinear properties of the components, including nonlinear magnetic circuits, coupled with non-linear geometries. By examining these two cases, the research sheds light on the importance of incorporating non-linear considerations in SRM analysis.
