Numerical and Experimental Analyzis of Nonlinear Characteristics of a 12/8 Switched Reluctance Machine for Energy Conversion

In This paper, we examine the design and the manufacture of a 12/8 switched reluctance machine for a frequency conversion machine. In this case, a nonlinear mathematical model based on finite elements method is proposed. The obtained results of the nonlinear magnetic properties from the Ansys software are compared and validated with the realized practical ones. By analyzing the inductance variations in terms of currents and positions of the moving part in both linear and nonlinear cases, a significant difference between the maximum and the minimum inductance values is, clearly, observed. Based on these so important findings, it can be concluded that a machine with such capabilities can function as both a motor and a generator and providing additional energy. Additionally, our analysis study aims essentially to facilitate the control and enhance the performances of the switched reluctance machine under various torque loads.
