Child Abuse Detection Using a Low-Cost Embedded System

"Too much information is no information." Security cameras are common these days. However, an excessive number of cameras can overwhelm a human operator’s attention and reduce the chance to observe any behavior related to child abuse. By adding a low-cost Nvidia Jetson Nano 4G developer kit to an existing CCTV, the system described here can detect and highlight possible child abuse behavior in a summarized list. The list can reduce the human operator workload and increase the chance of pinpointing a child abuse case. This child abuse detection system is currently being used in childcare centers.
