Design of Novel Oral Submucous Fibrosis Mouth Opening Device

The primary goal of treating oral submucous fibrosis are to lessen patients' discomfort and stop the growth of malignancy. Mouth exercise physiotherapy is regarded as a mainstay for enhancing mouth opening, either on its own or in conjunction with other modalities. The objective of the current work is to design a mouth opening device for such patients and identify the suitable material to give comprehensive information on its design. The device is fabricated and is suitable for patients with minimum mouth opening of 3mm.The lower lever arms' unique design profile provides tangential contact with the bolt head throughout motion for effective effort transmission. The device is presently under clinical trial.
