IoT-Based Flow Meter Sensor for Genset Fuel Monitoring

In the operation of a generator set, several problems are often encountered, one of which is the use of fuel where there is a difference in the volume of fuel filled into the tank and that used to operate the generator. Therefore, we need a monitoring system with sensor modules such as a flow meter sensor to calculate the capacity of the fuel loaded into the tank and the capacity of the fuel used or consumed by the generator set which has been integrated with the Internet of Things. This article describes the design and implementation of a generator fuel monitoring system. Two flowmeter sensors are placed at the fuel inlet and outlet of the generator tank. The test results for the two sensors showed an error value of 2.715% over 5 trials. The ESP8266 WiFi module’s loT integration allows to send sensor readings to the phpMyAdmin database and view the results in real-time via the web UI.
