Research on the Ablation Charcteristic of Silicon Rubber under Ramjet Combustor Environment

With the rapid development of solid rocket ramjet (SRR), new requirements are put for the insulation materials of the ramjet chamber. Only by deeply understanding the ablation characteristics of the insulation materials can the materials be effectively improved and the materials that meet the thermal protection requirements of SRR. In this paper, a combination of numerical simulation and experimental methods was used to reveal the typical ablation thermal environment of SRR, and the ablation condition of the insulator surface under ramjet chamber working environment were given. Combined with the arc tunnel equipment, a set of ablation device that can be used to the oxygen-rich and particles erosion environment of ramjet chamber was developed. Different formulations of silicone insulators were designed, and thermogravimetric(TG) and experiments were conducted, and the effects of each functional filler on the ablation resistance of silicone rubber matrix were given. The research shows that the ablation device developed in this paper can simulate the main characteristics of the ablation environment of the ramjet chamber, and the addition of $ZrB_{2}$ to the silicone rubber matrix is beneficial to improving the ablation resistance of the material.
