Effect on the Aerodynamic Characteristics of the Delta Wing Using Active Flow Control Technique

The vortex nature over the delta wings is greatly influenced under the application of the active flow control technique. Blowing method over the delta wing with sweep angle 65° is employed as an active flow control method. The numerical simulation is performed on the clean delta wing and a delta wing adopting blowing method using the commercial software ANSYS Fluent. The angle of attack was varied from 0° to 30°. Reynold’s Number was fixed to be as 5 x 10

and jet momentum coefficient as 0.1. The results proved that the blowing method helped in delaying the vortex breakdown over the suction surface and has higher aerodynamic efficiency than the baseline delta wing.
