Design of Crop Growth Analysis Platform with Image and Time Series Analysis

The precision farming refers to a recent technology trend that applies various ICT technologies for analysis and prediction of a plant or crop status. Various kinds of sensors are used for data collection in precision farming, and models are developed by the analysis of the collected data. There are many methods to analyse and predict the status including a few conventional methods such as regression. However, crop growth monitoring is not a simple task which involves only one variable. The crop growth is affected by various factors which requires multivariate analysis. Further, it needs to be able to extract time-series data from the sequence of the images to analyse growth. This paper identifies the considerations on data platform for growth monitoring on the fields and presents topics for precision farming along with the design of a growth analysis platform.
