Depth sensors, stereoscopic images, and photogrammetry are essential for accurate 3D reconstructions of real-world objects and settings. These data streams support spatial cognition and interaction in AR/VR. Reconstruction technologies like point cloud and mesh reconstruction are essential for turning 3D data into models. Virtual features that complement or replace the actual environment in AR experiences or build fully fabricated VR settings are based on these models. By applying 2D textures to 3D geometry, “texture mapping” enhances scene realism.
