Application of an On-Board Low-Potential Power Plant Using Cold Energy

The article considers the possibility of using a power plant for generating additional energy, which is part of the cryogenic fuel complex of the Tu-330 aircraft, operating on cryogenic substances. All this will help to reduce the consumption of hydrocarbon fuels, which in turn will lead to an improvement in the environmental situation on earth. The thermodynamic parameters of the operation of the power plant, in the cruising flight mode of the Tu-330 aircraft with a cryogenic fuel complex, have been determined. An assessment of the additional electrical energy received has been carried out. The possibility of using the installation is considered by the example of installing PS-90A and NK-93 engines on a Tu-330 aircraft using liquefied natural gas (LNG) as fuel instead of aviation kerosene. The use of LNG as the main fuel makes it possible to improve the main characteristics (efficiency, specific thrust) of a gas turbine engine. In this article, the methodology for processing computational and experimental data specified in the article Numerical Modelling of Evaporation Process in Cryogenic Systems was used. The estimated error of the calculated and experimental studies was 5-6%.
