Lqg Controller Design for BMS Systems

Researchers are challenged and motivated to provide prime building systems operations in today's energy shortage and high-performance requirements. This work; considers a multi-variable Building Management System (BMS) problem for optimum control strategy. The problem combines the regulation of indoor air temperature, carbon dioxide concentrations, and luminance in a meeting room. The complete mathematical model of the system is derived and presented in state space representation. The derived model is simulated and verified using actual collected weather data. An optimal Linear, Quadratic, and Gaussian controller is synthesized to regulate the three targeted room process parameters. The LQG controller's control actions are further simulated, verified, and validated using a measured set of collected weather data.
