Rapid and Precise Spectrum Sensing Over Broad Spectral Range with Energy Detection Using Software-Defined Radio

Current research faces the challenge of how to quickly and precisely sense the target signal in a broad-spectrum and non-stationary noise environment. The circular-folding cooperative power spectrum density split cancellation (CF-CPSC) based on energy detection can quickly and accurately sense signals in the broad-spectrum and non-stationary noise environment, but its sensing performance will be severely degraded when there are dense multiple signals in the sensing background. To address the problem of the CF-CPSC, this paper proposes a multiple signal-free CF-CPSC (MSF-CF-CPSC) algorithm. It sets a coarse threshold and utilizes the sensed noise subbands from adjacent subspectra, making CF-CPSC suitable for the dense multi-signal environment. Based on the superior sensing ability of the improved algorithm and the parallel processing capability of the general software radio platform, a fast and accurate spectrum sensing scheme with a span of 1GHz is designed and implemented in this paper.
