Heat Flux Distribution on the Receiver of a Linear Fresnel Reflector Designed for Desalination

This work presents a numerical study focused on optical and geometric evaluations for completing the construction and determining the dimensions of a linear Fresnel solar collector prototype with a cylindrical-parabolic secondary reflector employed for desalination. The study analyzes the distribution of solar flux around the absorber tube on three selected days throughout the year in the climate conditions of Algerian city “Blida” using the SolTrace program and the Monte Carlo method. The obtained results indicate that the concentrator was successfully validated and has good optical performance., as indicated by the homogeneity of heat flux over the absorber surface.
