Practical Application of Risk Management in Project Management

There is a lot in the literature about risk management, especially how it is done. However, it is not dealt with when exactly it should be done and therefore the research question arises: “In which phase of the project management is risk management operated, dependent on the actual state or success of the project?”. This article deals with the open topic of analysing how risk management is applied in different projects, related to phase, professional experience and current status of the projects. To solve this problem, the following sub-research questions, “Is risk management done on a higher level if the project is currently in a bad condition?” and “In which project phase is risk management stopped or neglected?” were answered. To do this, a quantitative survey was conducted. The results show that the intensity of risk management decreases over the project period, is not stopped during the project period and there is an increased focus on risk management when problems arise.
