An Ideal Softening Resonator for Nonlinear Vibration Energy Harvesting with Flat Power Characteristics

This study demonstrates the design of the ideal softening resonator with flat power characteristics for electromagnetic vibration energy harvesting, and the physical implementation method by magnetic spring. The ideal restoring force function of the resonator is designed based on the averaging method. The resonator is physically implemented by the magnetic spring whose configuration of fixed magnets is determined by Lasso regression according to the designed ideal force function. It was found that the numerical frequency response of the resonators subjected to a base excitation approximately reproduced the designed power characteristics.
