EMF Generation in Photoplasma Created by Concentrated Solar Radiation at Different Na Pressures

In this article, an optimization study on the resonance photoplasma in Na–Ar mixtures has been conducted, ensuring spatial homogeneity of photoexcitation of resonance levels of Na in a cylindrical gas cell. An addition to the plasma chemistry of our previous model has been introduced considering the radiation absorption and trapping of the higher excited state of sodium level. The main photoplasma parameters have been investigated for sodium pressure
$P_{\text {Na}}=(0.0206-0.112)$
torr for the ratios of argon gas/sodium vapor pressure
$P_{\text {Ar}}\mathrm {/}P_{\text {Na}}\mathrm { = (5, 10,50)}$
and a corresponding gas temperature
$T_{\mathrm {g}}$
of (580–630) K at corresponding solar concentration ratios (CRs) ~ (20–40). The results show the dependence of generated electromotive force (EMF) mainly on the solar radiation CR at corresponding different pressures. These results show the possibility of having a photoelectric converter based on concentrated solar radiation.
