Comparison of Fuzzy Logic Type I and II to Model a Ceramic Coating Process

In this work, the comparison between type 1 and type 2 fuzzy logic systems is presented when modeling a process that consists of preparing paint, which works as a coating for the sand cores in the foundry process for the manufacture of monoblocs. This coating protects the sand cores from molten metal, so it is essential to control its parameters to avoid penetration defects. The comparative tests between models, based on the analysis of variance and the coefficient of determination, show that interval type 2 fuzzy logic systems (IT2 FLS) better represent the paint preparation process.
